The Modern Day Eve

If the story of Eden were to happen in modern days, Adam and Eve would eat of the forbidden tree. A reporter would come knocking on their door asking them why they did it.

Reporter: Take me back to that day. What was going through your minds?

Eve responds: I thought to myself, this seems like a good idea and I can think of four good reasons why: (1) it was a food item, so it was obviously meant to be eaten. (2) It was beautiful, so it must be good. (3) It would give me wisdom. And (4) all of this would make me happy.

Reporter: What about you, Adam?

Adam: I just wanted to make the woman happy because you know how that saying goes, “happy wife, happy life.” I was standing next to her and just went along with her judgement because you know… women are always right.

Reporter: So let me get this straight. It was your God-given role and responsibility to protect her and lead her, but you just made a habit of doing whatever she says?

Adam: Yeah… you could say that. I don’t like conflict, so, I just let her do what she wants.

*reporter closes dialogue and speaks to audience*

Reporter: Well, there you have it. That’s the story of how Adam and Eve destroyed the whole world. Next up, How an alligator bit a man’s hand off.

This may all sound very silly, but it is actually a very serous problem that we see today. The marriage thing, that is, not the story of the man who thought it would be cool to stick his hand in an alligator’s mouth. Some things like that with humanity just can’t be fixed…
