Gradation of Various Types of Errors
Some Christians like to call everything they disagree with "heresy," but I don't think that word means what you think it means...

From least worse to most worse choices and mistakes someone can make regarding life and doctrine in relation to God:
Error – Mis-judgement; mistakes interpreting the Bible through exegesis/eisegesis.
False Teaching – Wrong doctrine/theology, whether intentionally or unintentionally; it often has the affect of causing harm to its hearers, to their lives, or instability to their faith and practice. Alternatively, it may also ascribe to God less than what He really is and deserves or to usurp His authority and the authority which He has given to us in His Word by disregarding that authority or going beyond the allowable limits of that authority.
Blasphemy – Speaking to or about God condescendingly against His nature, His goodness, and His work; to belittle Him or lash out in anger or scorn against Him; to speak arrogantly against God or to believe in one’s heart lies against who God really is.
Heresy – Serious false doctrine that undermines the gospel which can lead people astray, destroy people’s faith, and prevent people from entering into the kingdom of God. It adds or takes away from the true, one and only gospel which was once for all delivered unto the saints—the One way, One truth, One life, Jesus Christ, who is by grace alone through faith. Those who teach heresy are likely heretics who are at the very least on the edge of falling into Hell since their doctrine rejects the critical aspects of the Christian faith which stack up proofs against them that they do not have the illumination and guidance of the Holy Spirit in them. Heresy is determined to be heresy by the truth of God’s Word alone as councils and men are fallible and prone to err, especially whenever they might have pride, personal vendettas, political, or ulterior motives to condemn one as a heretic. Labeling someone as a heretic should be no cavalier task. Doctrines ought to be labeled as heresy first before calling the person a heretic. It is not a word to be casually thrown around, especially without substantive Biblical proof and defense of one’s reasons.
Denial/Apostasy – Turning away from and denying the faith; smearing and mocking God’s name, His gospel, and sometimes inviting others to do the same. It is a sin built upon the former errors listed here.
Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit – The unforgivable sin which has reached the point of no return in which there is no repentance either now or ever in the future. It is a hardening of one’s heart to the point in which it cannot be broken. It is a sin which can only be committed by those who have literally seen Jesus and His work either in the past when Jesus walked on earth or in the future when Jesus shall physically return in which every eye shall see Him and they shall either repent or harden their hearts. To have scientific, empirical evidence of Jesus is to have full proof without the need for full faith. To reject Jesus at this point when they have sufficient empirical evidence is to also reject any further proofs. No evidence will ever be enough for them to repent and believe. If entrance into the kingdom of God has been made this easy and clear for them and they still reject Jesus, no hope remains for them.
